New records of Cyanoprokaryotes and Algae from India on Ficus bengalensis L. (Great Banyan Tree) in Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose Indian Botanic Garden, Howrah, West Bengal, India

Abstract:
Altogether 20 cyanoprokaryotes and algal taxa belonging to different classes were recorded from Ficus bengalensis (Great Banyan Tree) in Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose Indian Botanic Garden (AJCBIBG), Howrah. Out of which 05 new taxa were reported for the first time from India belonging to Cyanophyceae / Cyanobacteria / Cyanoprokaryota (02), Chlorophyceae (01), Chrysophyceae (01) and Euglenophyceae (01). Brief taxonomic descriptions of each species are given in the paper along with photomicrographs.
